Berikut perubahan yang dilakukan oleh SAP untuk produk BI mereka, saya liat cukup mudah dan lebih SAP ketimbang bawaan dari Business Object.

Jadi, untuk sekarang pengguna BOBJ mulai menggunakan istilah di atas untuk produk BI

Dengan nama-nya yang baru, pastinya muncul juga perubahaan untuk tools yang mendukung SAP BO BI Platform 4.0

Bagaimana dengan Xcelcius ??? yang pasti BERUBAH juga

Sedangkan apakah SAP Business Object Dashboard (Excelsiu Enterprise), tool yang digunakan untuk desktop dashboard dan solusi untuk visualisai data yang menjadi Core dari SAP BO BI 4.0. Ketika user membuat model dashboard, hasilnya bisa di jalankan dalam bentuk SWF, SAP environment, SAP BO BI Platform, aplikasi desktop seperti PowerPoint, Word atau PDF.

Tool yang digunakan berikut ini merupakan produk utama dari solusi dari SAP BI :

1. SAP Business Object Explorer, digunakan untuk membuat query secara langsung yang secara real-time akan di tampilkan secara grafik. produk ini juga tersedia untuk handset Ipad/iphone
2. Crystal Report, tools untuk membuat semua business report untuk customer. tools ini adalah next-tools pengganti dari BEx (SAP sudah menghentikan development untuk BEx).
3. Xcelcius, tools untuk kebutuhan pembuatan Dashboard. tools ini akan menggantikan BEx Web Designer di SAP BI sebelumnya
4. Advanced Analys, digunakan untuk membuat report dengan cepat dan representatif.

Dan akhirnya, sejak 7 Oktober 2007, SAP mengumumkan mengakuisi Business Object, yang secara otomatis mengambil alih nama Business Intelligence yang di pegang oleh SAP BI/BW (produk SAP sendiri), sehingga hemat kata, kita bisa mengatakan Business Warehouse itu lebih deket ke SAP BW/BI 3.5/7.0 dan kita bisa mengatakan Business Intelligence itu lebih deket ke SAP Business Object itu sendiri.

Jika kita kelompokan berdasarkan seberapa pentingkah customer, maka kita bisa pisah menjadi 2 yaitu :

1. Jika ukuran sebuah customer masuk dalam Midsize/SME Company, SAP menawarkan produk untuk SAP Business Object dengan nama SAP Business Object Edge Solution (http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/edgeseries/index.epx)
2. Jika ukuran sebuah customer masuk dalam Corporate Value, SAP menawarkan produk dengan nama SAP Business Object Enterprise Solution (new name: SAP Business Object Business Intelligence Platform) http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/large/business-intelligence/index.epx

Jika kita melihat dari fitur yang di tawarkan, jelas untuk level Large Business (Enterprise) lebih lengkap namun dari segi Core sendiri masih mempunyai kemampuan yang tidak jauh beda

Contoh : Jika kita coba install SAP BOBJ Edge dengan core function untuk kebutuhan Universe Designer, WeBI, Life Office, Query of Web Service, BO Portal, Xcelcius semua sudah tersedia mulai dengan produk Midzise ini, namun ketika kita ingin mengaktifkan service yang spesifik seperti explorer (http://explorer.sap.com/experience/html/Pages/index.htm) justru sudah Add-on default sudah ada di SAP BOBJ Enterprise.

Kemungkinan bisa berimpact bagaimana license SAP BOBJ untuk kebutuhan Ukuran sebuah Business di customer, jadi silahkan untuk explore lagi, Produk mana yang justru menjadi inti ke depan penggunaan SAP BOBJ demi memuaskan para Decision Maker.

Jangan sampe kita pake BOBJ hanya untuk kita mengikuti trend di SAP tapi melupakan inti dari apa sebenarnya tujuan kita menggunakan BOBJ, tapi butuh kesiapan dari pengguna untuk menggunakan tools, boleh jadi apa yang di buat secara interface wowwww..tapi apa yang di tampilkan cuma sekedar informasi yang justru yang kurang “bunyi” di mata Manajemen , apalagi ketika di gunakan di level manajemen buka dashboard bisa menghabiskan waktu nunggu “loading” :-p

SAP Business Object

Secara umum database ini merupakan tempat menyimpan semua data yang digunakan dan diakses oleh system SAP. Data yang disimpan tidak hanya data data transaksi, tetepi juga data system seperti program dan konfigurasi paramenter system. Lha untuk “mewadahi” database functionality, maka dalam susunan “tier” SAP (silakan dibaca posting terdahulu) ada blok database instance (atau populer juga disebut database server dalam kondisi database dan applikasi sap berada dalam mesin yang berbeda)

Salah satu keunggulan SAP adalah mereka cukup terbuka dengan berbagai macam platform database. Beberapa tipe database kelas dunia sudah kompatible dengan SAP seperti Oracle, MS SQL, IBM DB2, MAX DB dll. Tentu saja masing masing platform database memiliki kelebihan, kekurangan dan “harga” yang berbeda beda

Database Server yang digunakan oleh Sistem SAP merupakan Relational Database Management System (RDBMS). Kita dapat menerjemahkan RDBMS sebagai server yang mengatur hubungan antara data satu dengan yang lain dalam satu database system. Secara umum RDBMS dapat melakukan beberapa fungsi sebagai berikut :

• Me-manage data dalam ukuran yang cukup besar untuk dapat diakses oleh banyak user sekaligus dalam waktu yang bersamaan
• Me-maintain hubungan antar data dan table
• Menjamin ketersediaan fungsi fungsi keamanan data berdasarkan konsep autorisasi (user dan object)
• Mampu melakukan recovery data ke kondisi normal saat terjadi inconsistecy data 
• Mampu melakukan pemrosesan banyak data dalam kecepatan tinggi

Dalam implementasinya di environment SAP, hanya administrator database boleh melakukan akses langsung ke database. Semua aktivitas data processing di SAP yang dilakukan oleh user akan dikendalikan sepenuhnya oleh workprocess di SAP (salah satu kernel aplikasi SAP) dimana untuk koneksi dari SAP application server ke SAP database server akan memanfaatkan functionality dari database client.

The implementation of your SAP System covers the following phases:

Project Preparation

In this phase you plan your project and lay the foundations for successful implementation. It is at this stage that you make the strategic decisions crucial to your project. Activities in this phase will consist of Define your project goals and objectives, Clarify the scope of your implementation, Define your project schedule, budget plan, and implementation sequence, Establish the project organization and relevant committees and assign resources

Business Blueprint

In this phase you create a blueprint using the Question & Answer database (Q&Adb), which documents your enterprise’s requirements and establishes how your business processes and organizational structure are to be represented in the SAP System. You also refine the original project goals and objectives and revise the overall project schedule in this phase. In this phase, you configure the requirements contained in the Business Blueprint.

Realization

Baseline configuration (major scope) is followed by final configuration (remaining scope), which can consist of up to four cycles. Other key focal areas of this phase are conducting integration tests and drawing up end user documentation.

Final Preparation

In this phase you complete your preparations, including testing, end user training, system management, and cutover activities. You also need to resolve all open issues in this phase.

Go Live & Support

At this stage you need to ensure that all the prerequisites for your system to go live have been fulfilled. In this phase you move from a pre-production environment to the live system. The most important elements include setting up production support, monitoring system transactions, and optimizing overall system performance.

When you enter a goods movement, you can work with or without a reference document. You can enter a goods receipt, for example, with reference to a production order or to a purchase order. However, you can also enter all  the necessary data manually. Documents that are created for posting goods movements and are the basis for the quantity and value update also serve as verification for the movement. The bookkeeping principle no posting without document is valid here.

Material document

The material document serves as verification for the goods movement and as a source of information for all subsequent applications. The material document consists of a header and at least one item. The header contains general data about the movement type, such as the date and delivery note number. The items describe the individual movements.A material document is identified by the document number and the material document year.

Accounting document

If the movement is relevant for Financial Accounting (in other words, if the movement leads to an update of the G/L accounts) the system creates an accounting document parallel to the material document.

In some cases — for example, for two material document items with different plants that belong to different company codes — the system creates several accounting documents for one material document. The G/L accounts affected by a goods movement are updated by automatic account determination.An accounting document is identified by the company code, the document number, and the fiscal year

Goods movements include both external”and internal movements. In general, a transaction that causes a stock change is marked as a goods movement. You can distinguish between goods receipts, goods issues, stock transfers, and transfer postings.

 A goods receipt (GR) is a goods movement in which the receipt of goods from both an external vendor and from production is posted. A goods receipt leads to an increase of warehouse stock.

A goods issue (GI) is a goods movement in which a material withdrawal, goods issue, material consumption, or goods shipment is posted to a customer. A goods issue leads to a decrease of warehouse stock.

A stock transfer is removal of materials from a particular storage location and placement into another storage location. Stock transfers can take place both within the same plant and between two plants.

A transfer posting is a superordinate term for stock transfers and changes the stock identification or qualification of a material, regardless of whether the posting is linked to a physical movement or not. Examples of a transfer posting include the release of the stock for quality inspection, the transfer posting from material to material, or the transfer of consignment material.
